About NextStep
NextStep is dedicated to bridging exceptional consulting talent with promising opportunities through innovative AI-driven matching. We collaborate with forward-thinking companies across diverse sectors to place seasoned professionals in roles where they can make a significant impact. We are currently seeking a Value Creation Manager to join the team on behalf of a client within our partner network.
About the Company
Our client is a leading mid-market private equity firm based in London, managing assets worth £1.8 billion. They focus on buyout investments in the healthcare, education, and business services sectors. With a portfolio featuring 10 active investments and a proven track record of enhancing operational value, they are assembling a dedicated Operating Team to collaborate with management at portfolio companies and drive measurable improvements. This newly established role is part of a growing team.
The Role
As the Value Creation Manager, you will collaborate directly with leadership teams of portfolio companies to identify and execute value creation initiatives that encompass commercial growth, operational efficiency, and strategic positioning. You will serve as an extension of the investment team, applying analytical rigor and implementation expertise to the portfolio companies.
What You'll Do
- Conduct swift operational and commercial diagnostics across portfolio companies to pinpoint the most valuable improvement opportunities.
- Design and spearhead the implementation of value creation initiatives, including strategies for revenue growth, cost reduction, pricing adjustments, and operational enhancement programs.
- Partner closely with management teams of portfolio companies to develop their capabilities and ensure the achievement of set targets.
- Monitor value creation progress and report performance against the plan to the investment team and Board.
- Assist in evaluating new deals by providing operational and commercial due diligence insights.
What We're Looking For
- 5–8 years of experience in management consulting (preferably top-tier) or in a value creation/operational improvement role within private equity.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose issues and develop evidence-based improvement plans.
- Ability to work alongside senior management teams, providing both challenge and support.
- Hands-on approach, eager to delve into operational details rather than remaining at a strategic level.
