About the Role
Butternut Box is looking for a Social Media Manager to join the London team on a maternity cover contract for at least 12 months. As Europe’s leading fresh dog food provider, we focus on bringing health and happiness to dogs and their humans. Social media sits at the heart of our community and brand, shaping how dog parents connect with us and each other.
This role is central to our organic social strategy. The Social Media Manager will drive content that builds loyalty, amplifies our mission, and keeps us culturally relevant. The position starts with direct reporting to the Global Head of Brand and will later transition to reporting to the new Head of Social & Community once they join.
What You Will Do
- Lead Organic Social Strategy: Manage our main channels, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, while keeping a steady presence on secondary platforms. Each post should serve a clear purpose, from deepening brand loyalty to educating about the benefits of fresh dog food.
- Spot Trends and Use Data: Identify emerging trends and test their impact using data. Go beyond basic metrics to understand how organic social supports overall growth and brand health.
- Create Content at Pace: Work closely with our Video Content Creator, Creative Studio, and agency partners to brief, capture, assess, and edit content. Decide when to use polished production or quick, lo-fi videos based on what fits the moment and the platform.
- Guard the Brand Voice: Write sharp, witty, and relatable copy that fits our "Tone of Bark." Know when to push creative boundaries, whether it’s jumping on a meme or sharing our mission.
Reporting Structure
The Social Media Manager will initially report to the Global Head of Brand. Once the Head of Social & Community joins, reporting will shift to them.
