Role Overview
The Electrical Engineer will provide expertise for utility-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects throughout the UK. This position supports projects from early development through construction and commissioning, ensuring technical assurance, grid compliance, and strong electrical performance. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams, EPC contractors, and external consultants to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant systems. The Electrical Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager.
Main Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering & Assurance
- Act as the electrical subject matter expert for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
- Evaluate and validate designs from consultants and EPC contractors.
- Ensure project specifications are met and maintained.
- Offer technical insights to improve performance and reliability.
Grid Compliance
- Review grid connection agreements for compliance with DNO/TSO requirements.
- Oversee and validate grid studies completed by third parties.
- Ensure adherence to the UK Grid Code, G99/G100, and other relevant standards.
- Support regulatory and technical compliance at every project stage.
Project Delivery
- Provide electrical support from development through commissioning.
- Serve as the main contact between internal teams and EPC contractors.
- Review deliverables and respond to technical queries (RFIs/TQs).
- Assist with the transition to operations, focusing on optimal system performance.
