With backing from Blackbird Ventures (early investors in Canva), Marloo has rapidly expanded, now supporting over 650 firms across six countries and maintaining extremely low client churn. This momentum points to a meaningful shift in the financial advisory sector.
Role overview
This Design Lead position sits at the intersection of product design and innovation. Financial advice software has often lacked in usability and visual appeal, and Marloo is determined to raise the standard. As the first full-time designer, collaborate directly with co-founders Hardy and Shak, as well as the engineering team. Take ownership of all aspects of design, from crafting user experiences to building out the brand identity. Set the tone for how design influences both product decisions and company culture.
The primary responsibility centers on product design: building an experience that helps advisers feel supported by a reliable partner. This role involves hands-on work, making judgment calls about when to seek outside expertise, and determining how to prioritize or delegate tasks.
What you will do
Product and user experience
- Lead design for Marloo's AI-powered product, ensuring complex features remain simple and intuitive.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and founders to deliver features that are both attractive and functional.
- Develop scalable design systems across Mac, iOS, and web platforms.
- Engage with users, including advisers, paraplanners, and support staff, to understand their needs, test features, and gather insights for ongoing improvements.
- Work across early-stage ideation (generating ideas and quick prototypes in Figma and Cursor) and refining details such as interactions, typography, and animations.
Brand and visual identity
- Shape a brand identity that conveys trust, intelligence, and a human touch.
