Role overview The Firmware Validation Engineer focuses on validating firmware for vehicle components and integrated systems. This position requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering, hands-on experience with avionics hardware, and the ability to design and execute validation plans from early design through manufacturing. What you will do Collaborate with Firmware, Avionics, Manufacturing, and Flight Operations teams to deliver reliable firmware releases for flight testing and customer deployment. Create and execute detailed test specifications for both system-level and component-level validation, covering standard and fault-injection scenarios. Develop software to support Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) simulations. Run SITL and HITL tests, analyzing and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Reproduce and investigate problems discovered during flight test operations. Enhance existing validation tools and introduce new solutions to accelerate validation cycles and support scalability for current and future airframe models. This position necessitates a hands-on approach, including debugging source code, troubleshooting complex technical issues, proposing innovative solutions, firmware reconfiguration, and testing prototype firmware within UAVs. The Integration Engineer will act as a key liaison among software, hardware, and systems teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.This role uniquely combines engineering expertise with program management skills — encompassing technical depth alongside the communication and planning abilities essential for driving cross-functional integration efforts across flight software, autonomy, ground control, and mission systems.This multidisciplinary position is highly visible and ideal for an engineer who excels in both technical and leadership roles — someone who can delve into code when necessary while guiding teams toward coordinated technical milestones.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines to establish systems and subsystems requirements, interfaces, data flows, and how these requirements are executed by the Software and Firmware Engineering teams.Define software/firmware features that support outlined requirements, set timelines for their development, and manage the implementation, validation, and release processes aligned with the company’s overall program milestones.
