As part of the Marketing and Communications team, the manager oversees media relations and represents the organization in public-facing situations. Key Responsibilities Media Relations Create and implement a proactive public relations strategy that supports organizational goals and brand identity. Build and maintain relationships with media at the local, regional, and national levels. Identify and pitch stories that highlight Animal Humane Society as a leader in animal welfare. Serve as the main point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate interviews. Represent Animal Humane Society in media appearances, delivering clear and professional messaging. Write press releases, media statements, op-eds, and briefing materials. Coach organizational leaders to prepare them for media engagement. Brand and Reputation Management Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing strategic recommendations to leadership. Maintain consistent messaging across all external communications. Support crisis communication planning and response, including rapid message development and media coordination. Protect and strengthen the organization’s public image and brand integrity. Assess risks and opportunities related to public perception. Content Creation and Storytelling Develop engaging content that communicates the mission and impact of Animal Humane Society. Work Schedule and Environment This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Some evenings and weekends may be required. The position is hybrid: at least one day per week is on-site at the Golden Valley location, with travel to other sites and for media appearances as needed.
