About the Role
CannonDesign is looking for an Entry-Level Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join the Chicago, IL office. This position works as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of a Certified Plumbing Designer or licensed Engineer. Projects span new construction and renovations across education, healthcare, corporate commercial, and science and technology sectors.

What You Will Do
- Support basic design of piping, controls, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems in building projects, with supervision. Assist with HVAC design as needed.
- Help with Revit/BIM modeling of construction drawings for plumbing and fire protection systems from schematic design through construction administration, under oversight. Provide Revit/BIM modeling support for HVAC systems as required.
- Work with the design team to develop specifications.
- Draft reports for review by a senior engineer.
- Review submittals and shop drawings for contract compliance.
- Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. This may involve physical walkthroughs.
- Take on other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering required by hire date. Preference for degrees from ABET-accredited programs.
- Understanding of advanced heat transfer, solar energy, and fluid dynamics as they apply to plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC system design.
- Related internship experience preferred.
- EIT or LEED accreditation preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects.
