The Role…
As a valued member of the Soho House team, the Dishwasher (Porter) plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. You will be responsible for the organization and cleaning of various kitchen items, including pots, pans, silverware, dishware, glassware, and kitchen equipment. Maintaining cleanliness and order within the kitchen and properly storing dishes are essential components of this position.
A successful Porter will take initiative in completing tasks such as disposing of rubbish throughout your shift, operating industrial cleaning equipment like the dishwasher, and occasionally assisting the Chef on Duty.
Main Duties
- Rinse, clean, organize, stock, and maintain an adequate supply of pots, pans, silverware, dishware, and glassware to support daily operations.
- Comply with health and safety policies, and implement and monitor adherence to all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Follow checklists and standard operating procedures diligently.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked work area.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings as required.
- Operate industrial cleaning machines effectively.
- Handle waste disposal, mop floors, and organize dirty and clean dishware, glassware, and silverware.
- Minimize breakage, practice proper handling, and safeguard inventory to prevent loss during daily operations.
- Exhibit flexibility in performing various duties as assigned.
- Collaborate and assist other stations when requested or needed.
Required Skills/Qualifications
- At least 1 year of consistent work experience in a similar role.
- Ability to focus, organize, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Efficient work habits while adhering to company standards.
- Quick reaction to unusual situations as they arise.
- Open and flexible availability for nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- A positive and influential team member.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
- Capable of standing for at least 8 hours during shifts.
- Ability to move quickly between various parts of the kitchen and club.
- Must be able to lift, pull, carry, or move at least 40 pounds.
- Occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing may be required.
