We are on the lookout for a talented Powertrain Modeling & Controls Engineer to lead the design, simulation, and validation of cutting-edge control strategies for our hybrid-electric propulsion system, encompassing everything from high-fidelity MATLAB/Simulink models to full hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation.Your ResponsibilitiesCreate advanced models for hybrid-electric powertrain components, including engines, generators, inverters, DC-DC converters, and batteries.Devise and execute supervisory power management and control algorithms for hybrid-electric systems.Adjust and personalize engine control settings and maps to meet aircraft-specific requirements.Establish and sustain comprehensive Software-in-the-Loop Simulation (SILS) environments using MATLAB/Simulink.Apply and verify control algorithms in real-time scenarios through Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation (HILS) setups.Collaborate closely with propulsion, avionics, and electronics teams to seamlessly integrate powertrain controls across various hardware modules.Conduct fault detection, isolation, and mitigation (FDI/FMECA) employing robust control and system-level modeling techniques.Maintain a modular and clean model architecture with comprehensive documentation to facilitate scalable development.QualificationsA minimum of 3 years of experience in hybrid/electric powertrain modeling or control systems.In-depth knowledge of control system design, including PID controllers, state-space modeling, observers, and stability analysis.Experience in designing supervisory controllers for hybrid systems, including power splitting, engine start/stop, load following, and real-time energy management.Familiarity with torque control, speed control, DC-bus control, and thermal control loops within hybrid powertrains.Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling and controller implementation.Understanding of real-time constraints and scheduling for embedded controllers.
