About the Role
As the Deputy General Counsel, you will play a pivotal role as the company's second legal expert, contributing to the evolution of our Legal department. You will oversee Base’s transactional and regulatory requirements, delivering legal counsel on commercial contracts, managing compliance issues across our operational jurisdictions, and supporting the foundational legal functions of a growing organization in a risk-oriented environment. In collaboration with internal stakeholders, you will identify and mitigate legal risks across various business domains while facilitating the launch of new business initiatives. This position reports directly to the General Counsel.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on partnership agreements, contract negotiations, vendor contracts, and real estate leases for a developing manufacturing company.
- Oversee the assessment of business contracts, MSAs, NDAs, and other commercial agreements.
- Play a key role in formulating company practices to minimize legal risks, particularly in cybersecurity, employment law, and consumer protection.
- Assist the General Counsel in implementing comprehensive legal strategies to bolster the core energy business, ensuring regulatory compliance within the energy and utilities sectors.
- Craft scalable strategies to address risks in a business-driven manner, establishing commercial processes that provide the company with agility and operational freedom.
- Remain updated on regulatory and legal changes, advising the General Counsel and senior management on the implications of new energy sector regulations.
- Offer legal assistance for potential fundraising activities, encompassing tax equity, project, and asset financing, in addition to other corporate transactions.
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum of 6 years of legal experience, with a strong emphasis on transactional work, particularly in the energy and utilities sectors.
