Position Overview:
We are looking for a Materials Manager Trainee for our Atlanta, GA location. This pivotal role will oversee the material management program for the designated market, including negotiating material and freight costs, managing inventory control, and supervising other management roles. The Materials Manager will also drive procurement activities to secure optimal pricing for all materials and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support all facets of the materials program for assigned markets.
- Develop and execute strategic procurement sourcing and management across multiple segments while negotiating supplier contracts and building strong vendor relationships.
- Manage and analyze inventory throughout the procurement lifecycle, including conducting cycle counts and audits for assigned markets.
- Oversee parts, shop, and warehouse operations, ensuring adequate stock levels and operational efficiency while providing feedback for process improvements.
- Actively engage in contract negotiations and cultivate vendor relationships to maintain a competitive edge based on market research.
- Monitor vendor performance regarding product quality, delivery, and pricing. Establish long-term partnerships with key vendors.
- Provide leadership and development opportunities for management staff through effective communication, coaching, and training.
- Determine staffing needs and ensure compliance with company hiring policies, including counseling and disciplinary actions.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance employee morale and productivity.
- Address and resolve employee concerns promptly.
- Review and assess employee performance against company goals.
