The Office Assistant at Luminis Health in Annapolis, MD, plays a key part in supporting the daily operations of an ambulatory care practice. Main responsibilities
- Welcome patients and complete accurate registrations in the practice management system.
- Coordinate with insurance providers and other medical facilities for referrals and coverage verification.
- Scan and abstract documents to maintain electronic medical records.
- Request and collect patient records from other healthcare facilities as needed.
- Manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, take messages, and direct calls appropriately.
- Support daily business operations to help the practice run smoothly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited training program is preferred.
- At least one year of clerical or billing experience in a medical office is favored.
- Strong customer service background is highly desirable.
Licenses and certifications
- Certification in Medical Interpretation is required if performing bilingual or multilingual interpreter duties.
