To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Exceptional communication skills. Experience engaging with a diverse client base in both public and private sectors. Willingness to travel regionally and out-of-state. A minimum of one year of experience in Erosion and Sediment Control and/or Stormwater compliance inspections and reporting is preferred. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Erosion and Sediment Control and/or Stormwater certifications are a plus.

Timmons Group is actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Scientist (Compliance) to join our esteemed Environmental Group in our Richmond, VA office. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in delivering environmental compliance services, particularly in relation to the construction of data centers, residential developments, commercial properties, utilities, and transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting VPDES inspections and preparing compliance reports.
  • Developing and auditing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Collaborating with federal and state resource agencies on wetlands, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater compliance.
  • Monitoring the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMP).
  • Overseeing Virginia Water Protection (VWP) construction compliance.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, a self-starter, flexible, detail-oriented, and enjoy engaging with both employees and clients. This role requires a commitment to completing tasks efficiently and meeting deadlines while aligning with the firm’s vision and mission.
