Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, or a related field.2 to 5 years of experience in delineation, permitting, monitoring, and/or construction oversight. Familiarity with NYSDEC stormwater regulations. Understanding of New York Department of Agriculture and Markets guidelines for energy projects. Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Ability to produce high-quality technical reports. Willingness to travel within New York as needed.

Join LaBella Associates as an Environmental Monitor in Poughkeepsie, New York, where you will engage in essential fieldwork, conducting environmental inspections and overseeing construction activities to ensure adherence to regulatory standards. As an integral part of our Permitting & Compliance Department, you will monitor active utility and construction sites throughout New York, focusing on erosion and sediment control to facilitate successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct full-time environmental and agricultural monitoring for electric transmission line or renewable energy construction projects in compliance with New York State Public Service Law Article VII, AVIII, or 94-c.
  • Ensure all construction activities align with Environmental Management and Construction Plans (EM&CP).
  • Perform daily inspections of construction zones, including access roads, structure sites, laydown yards, and restoration areas.
  • Document compliance with regulations related to wetlands, water bodies, erosion, sediment controls, and sensitive resources.
  • Act as the primary on-site representative for identifying non-compliance and directing corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with construction supervisors, contractors, and project managers to address environmental and agricultural compliance issues promptly.
  • Verify installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control measures as per NYS standards and project specifications.
  • Coordinate agricultural monitoring efforts with landowners and farm operators.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical environmental reports and maintain organized documentation.
  • Keep consistent field notes and daily logs using company templates, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
