A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering is required by the hire date, with a preference for degrees from ABET accredited programs. Understanding and ability to apply principles of advanced heat transfer, solar energy, and fluid dynamics in plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC system designs. Previous internship experience related to the field is preferred. EIT and LEED accreditation are advantageous. Strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively are essential.

CannonDesign is hiring an Entry Level Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer in Buffalo, NY. This position joins a multi-disciplinary team, working under the supervision of a Certified Plumbing Designer or licensed Engineer. Projects span new construction and renovations in sectors such as education, healthcare, corporate commercial, and science and technology.

What You Will Do

  • Design plumbing and fire protection systems, including piping, controls, and equipment selection, under supervision. May assist with HVAC designs as needed.
  • Support Revit/BIM modeling of construction drawings for plumbing and fire protection systems through all project phases, with guidance. May also contribute to HVAC system modeling as required.
  • Collaborate with the design team on specifications and provide support where needed.
  • Prepare draft reports for review by senior engineers.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings to check compliance with contract documents.
  • Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, which may include physical walkthroughs on-site.
  • Handle additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements
