Job Overview

As an Engineering Technician II, you will be instrumental in advancing research and development initiatives while collaborating closely with cross-functional project teams. Your responsibilities will encompass the complete lifecycle of hardware prototype development, including the design and assembly of printed circuit boards (PCBs), mechanical components, and software scripts. You will conduct tests and experiments aimed at achieving manufacturing readiness, ensuring that all documentation and process records are meticulously maintained to track test data and outcomes. This role is situated in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that prioritizes collaboration, offering you the opportunity to engage in diverse projects and work alongside a skilled team of engineers to exchange knowledge and insights.

Essential Functions

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues to identify faulty components.
  • Conduct troubleshooting for both electrical and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Utilize oscilloscopes and digital multimeters (DMM) for comprehensive system testing.
  • Solder wire harnesses and fabricate cables based on minimal documentation.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving technical challenges to contribute to project success.
  • Configuration, troubleshooting, data analysis, and integration of various applications and equipment such as GPS receivers, LiDAR sensors, inertial sensors, network routers, radio modems, meteorological sensors, and serial port hubs.
  • Perform software configuration checks and validate system build states using Ground Control Station (GCS) tools and Mission Planning Software as directed.
  • Work with Arduino (or equivalent) for microcontroller applications.
  • Utilize Raspberry Pi’s (or equivalent) for diverse platforms and products.
  • Conduct software testing and debugging with engineering support.
  • Contribute to the design, assembly, and testing of UAV frames for advanced projects.
  • Implement and maintain 5S methodology to enhance workflows and develop lean processes.
  • Thoroughly document testing procedures and data to ensure accuracy and support repeatability in future projects.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to facilitate the testing, completion, and optimization of components.
  • Assist in establishing platforms for testing and event execution, ensuring functionality and safety.
