About the Role:
We are in search of a stellar Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for our national healthcare provider rankings systems. Reporting to the VP of Health Intelligence Engineering, the ideal candidate will exhibit a strong sense of ownership, comfort in mentoring engineers across all experience levels, familiarity with distributed systems, and the ability to deliver complex technical solutions effectively.
Working Environment:
This position is based in our New York City office, requiring in-office work three days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and deliver new features in line with Garner’s strategic goals.
- Take ownership of the core systems that generate provider rankings.
- Ensure high quality standards while promoting timely and efficient delivery.
- Balance the development of new features with the need to scale and optimize existing systems.
- Collaborate across different disciplines to identify bottlenecks and risks, propose mitigations, and communicate trade-offs.
- Advocate for data privacy and security in all data initiatives.
- Cultivate a high-performing, collaborative team culture through proactive leadership, mentorship, and talent development.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience, particularly in Big Data and distributed systems.
- 1+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with a proven track record of building and mentoring high-performing teams.
