About the Role:

At Skydio, we are focused on significant technological investments in autonomy that lead to innovative products. We are in search of exceptional engineering leaders to expand our autonomy team and realize Skydio's ambitious vision. Our compact team possesses remarkable technical prowess in addressing intricate algorithmic challenges, and we seek to grow to seize forthcoming product opportunities. You will oversee one or more critical areas, including core drone platforms, software architecture, simulation, SDK, object detection, mapping infrastructure, situational awareness, computational photography, and state estimation. Your responsibilities will include managing the execution of the product and technology roadmap, as well as hiring, mentoring, and leading infrastructure investments crucial to our success. We welcome applicants with a diverse range of experiences, from tech leads to senior directors passionate about our mission.

Your Impact:

  • Utilize product insights, robotics expertise, and high-quality software engineering to introduce cutting-edge autonomy technology to the market.

  • Achieve complex cross-team objectives by collaborating with product management, embedded systems, mobile, cloud, hardware, and flight test teams, emphasizing outstanding communication.

  • Recruit and mentor top-tier engineers to scale our team effectively.

  • Apply your experience and best practices to maintain and enhance Skydio's engineering standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven hands-on technical leader with substantial software engineering experience.

  • Comprehensive understanding of robotics, computer vision, and software systems.

  • Demonstrated leadership, management, recruitment, team building, and communication capabilities.

  • Strong foundation in 3D geometry, mathematics, and linear algebra.

  • Experience with hardware is advantageous but not mandatory.

  • A passion for constructing flying robots and achieving remarkable feats with them.
