Additionally, candidates must have 2 years of experience reviewing technical resource manuals for lighting, HVAC, building envelope, compressed air, refrigeration, and related systems, as well as developing calculation spreadsheets for potential energy savings for small to medium commercial and industrial operations.

About the job

Location: Chicago, IL headquarters, with the option to work fully remote from anywhere in the United States. This is a hybrid, full-time position. Occasional travel (up to 10%) to project sites across the U. S. may be required.

Role overview

The Engineering Lead (REF #SV0226) at Resource Innovations plays a central role in managing complex engineering projects and teams. This position focuses on delivering high-quality, timely results for clients in small business and industrial sectors, particularly around energy-saving initiatives. The role combines technical leadership, project oversight, and mentorship responsibilities.

What you will do

  • Lead project teams, providing direction on assignments with significant complexity and risk.
  • Guide and mentor engineering staff to achieve client, operational, and service goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of energy efficiency programs for small business and industrial clients.
  • Maintain strict quality control over project deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy and clarity.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, offering advanced technical guidance to team members.
  • Mentor junior engineers in energy auditing, inspections, and measurement & verification practices.
  • Perform energy efficiency calculations using spreadsheets and energy simulation modeling tools.
  • Develop and review energy savings calculations across various equipment baselines.
  • Write detailed technical reports and contribute to research and development of conservation measures.
  • Provide essential technical support to the broader team.
