The Role
As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will be at the forefront of our operations from day one. Your responsibilities will include providing support to your team, comforting pet parents, and engaging in real-time learning throughout your journey. You will be involved in triage, treatments, and the joyful moments that come with caring for pets. This position is a stepping stone for those aspiring to become credentialed technicians or seeking to explore their passion within veterinary medicine. Key Responsibilities
- Welcome incoming patients warmly and assist with triaging to ensure efficient care delivery.
- Support veterinary staff in treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placements, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians in anesthesia and sedation management.
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
- Provide care across various settings: outpatient, inpatient, and throughout the treatment areas.
- Participate in patient rounds to maintain continuity of care.
- Receive training in CPR to become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.
- Advance your skills with opportunities for increased responsibilities, including anesthesia.
