JOB OVERVIEW
As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you will play a pivotal role in our team from day one. Your responsibilities will include triaging incoming patients, providing comfort to pet parents, and assisting with various treatments and diagnostics. This is an excellent opportunity to start your career in veterinary medicine, with pathways for growth into more advanced roles, including becoming a credentialed technician.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the first point of contact, warmly welcoming and supporting pet owners while triaging incoming patients.
- Assist with nursing care, treatments, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placements, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to prepare and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration effectively.
- Participate in all aspects of patient care from outpatient to inpatient settings.
- Join patient rounds to ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Receive training to perform CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.
- Progress to advanced responsibilities as your skills develop.
