Role overview

The Emergency Veterinarian role in Tucson, AZ places you at the heart of urgent animal care, supporting pets and their families during critical times. VEG provides strong mentorship, on-the-job support, and access to ER-focused continuing education to help veterinarians build confidence and advance their careers. This position involves managing a variety of emergencies, from routine cases to complex surgeries, across all types of pets, including exotics.

What you will do

  • Deliver immediate medical assistance and advice through phone consultations.
  • Use VEG’s Triage and VEG Spikes programs to ensure rapid care and enable families to remain with their pets.
  • Collect detailed patient information, including signalment, presenting complaints, vital signs, and conduct thorough physical exams.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies.
  • Develop accurate diagnoses and treatment plans for each patient.
