Role overview

The Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician in San Jose, CA, is a key member of the emergency care team. This position handles a wide variety of cases, from minor injuries to critical emergencies, working closely with veterinary doctors to deliver thorough, compassionate care. Responsibilities span triage, diagnostics, anesthesia, patient monitoring, and critical care nursing. The role also involves supporting pet owners during stressful times, making empathy and communication essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Show care and respect to every patient and their owners, ensuring a supportive experience throughout treatment.
  • Deliver timely nursing care, treatments, and emotional support from triage through discharge.
  • Administer medications and advanced treatments, including IVs, constant rate infusions (CRIs), and blood transfusions.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and contribute to collaborative care planning.
  • Be ready to perform CPR and other life-saving procedures as a trained RECOVER professional, with opportunities for ongoing training.
