As an Uncommon Pre-K Teacher, you will ignite a passion for learning in every child from their very first experiences in school. Through dedicated teaching, you will establish the academic and social-emotional foundations needed for students to thrive in college and beyond. Each Pre-K classroom features collaborative teaching teams, consisting of a lead teacher and an apprentice teacher.Key Responsibilities1. InstructionCollaborate with your teaching team to create a classroom atmosphere that is both joyful and conducive to learning, empowering students to master concepts through exploration and purposeful play.Deliver instruction in literacy (reading comprehension, phonics, language development, vocabulary, and writing), mathematics, and core knowledge (science and social studies).Facilitate free-choice centers and small group instruction in partnership with your team.2. Data AnalysisEngage in weekly meetings with your Director to review and discuss trends in student work samples and assessments.Utilize insights to differentiate instruction for diverse learners within your classroom.3. Classroom CultureImplement Uncommon’s instructional model and work with the instructional coach and Director to ensure that students meet academic and performance goals.Use varied data sources, including assessments and classroom quality observations, to inform daily instructional decisions.Offer early learning experiences that cultivate positive attitudes towards school, teachers, and the community.Support the holistic development of students across social-emotional, physical, cognitive, and academic domains.Employ diverse strategies to enhance both conceptual understanding and skill acquisition.Encourage expressive and receptive language development throughout the school day.Assist with administrative tasks such as document creation, office support, and responding to student communications.Help manage behavior interventions and ensure accurate record-keeping to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.4. School CultureProvide classroom coverage as needed to ensure consistent instruction and supervision.Build strong, positive relationships with students to help them feel recognized, valued, and supported.
