Educational Requirements:A diploma or degree in a Laboratory Science discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry) or equivalent relevant experience. Prior experience or a strong aptitude for Laboratory IT systems is preferred. Key Attributes and Skills:Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills. Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Proficiency in general IT tools and systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP, and LIMS. Excellent planning and organizational skills, capable of managing priorities effectively and meeting deadlines. Proactive with the ability to work independently and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

About the job

Main Purpose / Objective of the Position:
As an Electronic Lab Notebook Support Engineer, you will play a vital role in providing both operational and technical support for laboratory electronic systems utilized in analytical testing, data recording, and reporting. You will support core systems, including Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Chromatography Data Systems (e.g., Empower), and Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN/LES), among other lab-related IT platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the system administrator for critical laboratory IT systems, including Empower, ELN/LES, and LIMS.

  • Diagnose and resolve system performance issues, serving as the primary contact for technical support related to laboratory systems.

  • Carry out system updates in line with change control and action item protocols.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to manage system upgrades and validation activities for electronic laboratory systems.

  • Engage with global system stakeholders, gather system-related data, and present findings through informal reports to supervisors.

  • Assist in the qualification and routine maintenance of sophisticated electronic laboratory instrumentation.

  • Contribute to deviation investigations, meticulously documenting any system or user errors according to established protocols.

  • Adhere to all relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) procedures, assisting in incident investigations as required.

  • Support the training and onboarding of laboratory personnel in the use of lab IT systems.

  • Uphold high standards of integrity, particularly within pharmaceutical quality control contexts.

  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders across laboratory and IT functions.

  • Exhibit proficiency in scientific principles and demonstrate the ability to quickly adapt to new electronic technologies through appropriate training.

  • Engage in or lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing methodologies such as Six Sigma.
