About the job

At SpaceX, we aspire to a future where humanity explores the cosmos. Our mission is to develop cutting-edge technology that paves the way for human life on Mars.

Electrical Hardware Design Engineer - Satellites (Starlink)

SpaceX is leveraging its extensive experience in aerospace technology to deploy Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. This project encompasses the largest satellite constellation globally, delivering fast and reliable internet access to millions. Our team is involved in every aspect of the system, from satellite design and consumer receivers to the integrated software that connects it all. As we expand and enhance Starlink's capabilities, we seek exceptional engineers to join our mission.

As an Electrical Design Engineer for Starlink, you will oversee the entire hardware lifecycle that facilitates connectivity, engaging in various domains such as electrical, mechanical, thermal analysis, software, and antenna/RF engineering. Your challenges will include high-speed digital communications, analog signal processing, network system integration, power electronics, and RF devices. Your responsibilities will range from system design and schematic captures to PCB layout management, hardware troubleshooting, and defining requirements for silicon development and product testing. You will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including mechanical and software engineers, to drive successful outcomes across satellite subsystems.

  • Avionics: The avionics systems are the backbone of Starlink satellites, managing vehicle control, power distribution, high-speed traffic routing, and inter-satellite communication via advanced Space Lasers. This team is responsible for the design and success of these systems from inception to implementation.
  • Payload: The Payload team focuses on industry-leading phased arrays, parabolic antennas, and custom compute + modem electronics to deliver connectivity to our customers. They oversee the design and execution of this hardware from conception to deployment.

Your team assignment will be determined during the interview process, considering your technical skills, expertise, and preferences.
