Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 4 years of relevant experience, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in electrical engineering. Valid U. S. Driver’s License. Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Arizona, or the ability to obtain one. On-site field experience in construction, commissioning, and start-ups. MSHA Miner training. Experience with process instrumentation and controls. Ability to lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings. Familiarity with 3D CAD systems to collaborate with designers in producing construction-level drawings. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical capabilities, and interpersonal skills. A strong work ethic and professional demeanor. Demonstrated initiative in assignments.

Job Description

AECOM is looking for a proactive Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical engineering to join our Denver, Colorado office, where you will contribute to the planning and design phases of mining projects. We welcome applications from candidates with industrial electrical engineering experience, even if they come from outside the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute specific segments of broader tasks under the guidance of a senior engineer.
  • Collect and analyze fundamental engineering data following established procedures.
  • Engage in detailed engineering tasks that involve calculations and design work.
  • Devise solutions for encountered challenges using modifications to standard methodologies from previous projects.
  • Detect discrepancies in findings and propose alternative solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Conduct tasks independently while adhering to budgets and timelines.
  • Carry out all necessary steps to finalize primary design elements for engineering initiatives.
  • Create calculation packages for electrical equipment sizing.
  • Draft reports in Microsoft Word to summarize technical results of calculations or design packages, including summaries, figures, tables, methodologies, and explanations.
  • Assist with initial project design, including conceptual studies, electrical load assessments, equipment sizing and selection, datasheets, and overall layouts.
  • Support the creation of design documents covering electrical equipment, material specifications, equipment specifications, and vendor data requirements.
  • Conduct detailed technical evaluations for bids related to electrical equipment and systems.
  • Help review vendor shop drawings for compliance with industry codes, standards, and project-specific requirements.
  • Ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of required services.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally within a team environment.
  • Coordinate and direct team efforts on designs, specifications, drawings, reports, and calculations across various disciplines.
  • Collaborate with existing and prospective clients to deliver electrical engineering and design solutions for mining initiatives.
