Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating equivalent qualifications. Valid U. S. Driver’s License. Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, or the ability to obtain a PE. On-site field experience in construction, commissioning, and start-ups. MSHA Miner training. Experience with process instrumentation and controls. Ability to lead the design of calculations, sketches, diagrams, construction specifications, and final working drawings. Proficiency in 3D CAD software to coordinate with design teams in producing construction-ready drawings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside strong interpersonal abilities. A robust work ethic and a professional attitude. Demonstrated initiative in assignments.

Job Description

AECOM is on the lookout for a proactive and skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Tucson, Arizona office. This role primarily focuses on supporting mining projects during the planning and design phases. We welcome applicants with industrial electrical engineering experience, even if they do not have a background in mining.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing specific portions of larger projects under the guidance of seasoned engineers.
  • Collect and correlate essential engineering data using established protocols.
  • Engage in detailed engineering tasks, including calculations and design work.
  • Develop innovative solutions to challenges faced by modifying standard procedures and methods from previous projects.
  • Identify anomalies in results and propose alternative solutions to address them.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Carry out assigned tasks to complete primary design components with minimal supervision.
  • Compile calculation packages for sizing electrical equipment.
  • Create comprehensive reports in Microsoft Word to articulate the technical outcomes of calculations or designs, complete with summaries, figures, tables, methodologies, and explanations.
  • Conduct early design work, including conceptual studies, electrical load analysis, equipment sizing, selection, datasheets, and general layouts.
  • Support the creation of design documents that detail specifications for electrical equipment and materials.
  • Execute detailed technical evaluations for bids related to electrical equipment and systems.
  • Review vendor shop drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards and project-specific requirements.
  • Guarantee project services meet requirements on time and within budget.
  • Maintain effective and professional communication with supervisors and team members.
  • Collaborate with staff on designs, specifications, diagrams, reports, and calculations in multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Work alongside current and prospective clients to provide electrical engineering solutions for mining initiatives.
