About the job

At SpaceX, we envision a future where humanity explores the stars, driven by the technology we develop today. Our ultimate goal is to establish human life on Mars.

ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - SATELLITES (STARLINK)

Join SpaceX as we harness our rocket and spacecraft expertise to deploy Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink boasts the largest satellite constellation globally, delivering fast and reliable internet access to millions. We design, build, test, and operate every component of this innovative system, from thousands of satellites to user-friendly receivers and the software that integrates it all. As we enhance and expand our constellation, we seek exceptional engineers to be part of this groundbreaking mission.

As an Electrical Design Engineer for Starlink, you will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of the hardware that powers our connectivity solutions, engaging in electrical, mechanical, thermal analysis, software, and antenna/RF engineering. Your challenges will encompass high-speed digital communications, analog systems, network integration, power electronics, and RF devices. Your responsibilities will range from system design and schematic capture to PCB layout oversight, alongside hardware troubleshooting and setting requirements for the silicon and the entire product production and testing processes. You will also play a vital role in achieving successful outcomes across interdisciplinary subsystems, collaborating with mechanical and software engineering teams.

Key sub-teams include:

  • Avionics: The heart of Starlink satellites lies in the avionics systems, controlling the vehicle, distributing kilowatts of power, routing high-speed vehicle and user traffic, and connecting satellites via our advanced Space Lasers. This team is tasked with the design, development, and success of these systems from inception to completion.
  • Payload: Our satellites utilize cutting-edge phased arrays, parabolic antennas, and custom compute and modem electronics to ensure exceptional connectivity for our customers. The Payload team is responsible for the design, development, and success of this hardware from conception to delivery.

Your placement on these teams will be determined during the interview process based on technical fit, expertise, and personal preference.
