LaBella Associates is excited to announce an opening for an Ecological Restoration Technician within our esteemed Environmental Division in Buffalo, New York. This hourly, non-exempt position offers a competitive starting salary ranging from $18 to $20 per hour, with potential for overtime during peak seasonal periods. Join our dynamic Ecological Construction and Restoration Program to collaborate with a dedicated team focused on invasive species management, habitat restoration, and wetland and stream restoration services for both private and public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and control invasive species through herbicide application and physical removal techniques.
  • Engage in native seeding and planting efforts.
  • Assist in the installation of erosion and sediment control features as well as riverbank and riparian restoration.
  • Operate various tools and equipment including chain saws, brush saws, herbicide sprayers, trucks and trailers, and skid loaders, depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in natural sciences (e.g., ecology, geography, biology) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License.
  • Prior construction experience is beneficial.
  • Capability to drive large trucks, tow trailers, and operate small to heavy equipment.
  • Proficient in identifying invasive plant species prevalent in western and central New York.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Endurance to walk throughout the day on rough terrain.
  • Regular travel is expected.
  • Commitment to obtaining a New York State pesticide applicator license.
