Director of Process Engineering
Consumer Products Manufacturing
Location: State College, PA (on-site)
Compensation: $180,000 – $200,000 base salary

Position Overview
We are excited to announce a newly created leadership position for a Director of Process Engineering at a prominent and expanding consumer products manufacturer. This organization operates three manufacturing plants within the region, with two located on the same campus, and is committed to enhancing operational stability and growth.
The Director of Process Engineering will initially function as a hands-on individual contributor with significant enterprise-level influence. As the role evolves, this leader will have the opportunity to build and manage a team of Process Engineering Managers and Engineers.
The primary mission is to stabilize, standardize, and continuously enhance process engineering capabilities across all three plants, thereby driving performance, reliability, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead process engineering strategy across three manufacturing facilities
- Evaluate, streamline, and stabilize existing process engineering systems and workflows
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, throughput, and process reliability
- Collaborate with Plant Leadership, Operations, Maintenance, and Quality to achieve sustainable enhancements
- Oversee capital and process-related projects as necessary
- Develop and establish engineering best practices, standards, and performance metrics
- Utilize data and analysis to identify gaps, measure performance, and inform decision-making
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineering talent as the team expands
- Gradually accept formal leadership responsibilities over Managers and Engineers
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
Extensive experience in Process Engineering within:
- Consumer products manufacturing or
- High-speed, high-volume manufacturing environments
Robust hands-on engineering background with the capability to operate at both plant and strategic levels
Proven experience in leading and developing engineers (formal or informal leadership experience required)
Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certification (minimum Green Belt) required
Advanced data analysis and problem-solving skills
Demonstrable ability to coach, mentor, and cultivate technical teams
Experience in the paper industry is a plus, but not mandatory
