Your Impact:
In the role of Director of Engineering, you will spearhead the Data and Intelligence Engineering division at Elliptic. Your leadership will define our technical trajectory, optimize team configurations, and enhance both engineering and operational sophistication within the domain. You will oversee the integration of diverse external and intelligence data sources, ensuring the production of foundational datasets that support our product offerings. As we experience rapid growth, your expertise will be crucial in scaling our data pipelines, infrastructure, and engineering methodologies to facilitate consistent, high-performance data streams, empowering teams across the organization.
You will serve as the strategic and technical authority within this organization, collaborating closely with senior engineers, product teams, and intelligence units to develop the operational framework, refine strategic initiatives, and advance the team's maturity while ensuring timely delivery and fostering trust among your colleagues.
Elliptic is recognized for its comprehensive and dependable datasets. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining and amplifying this reputation as the business evolves. You will be responsible for defining the architecture and evolution of our data infrastructure, which serves product, intelligence, commercial, finance, and operations teams, making you the primary liaison across these critical functions.
Your Responsibilities:
Lead the technical vision and platform roadmap for the data domain, collaborating with principal engineers on architectural strategies that weigh business requirements, reliability, cost, and innovation.
Develop and enhance the organizational structure, team dynamics, ownership models, operational processes, and recruitment strategies for the domain.
Establish delivery standards and rhythms that enhance predictability while maintaining agility.
Promote operational excellence by guiding SLAs, observability, data quality standards, and incident management, ensuring that the platform is dependable, quantifiable, and continually advancing.
Act as the representative for data engineering across product, commercial, intelligence, operations, and finance sectors.
Collaborate effectively with engineering managers to assess team performance and contribute to the recruitment, development, and retention of strong engineering leaders.
Balance the need to support product and revenue teams with the imperative to construct reliable, scalable infrastructure. Communicate transparently about prioritization, going beyond just the “what” of tasks and taking ownership of the overall strategy.
