ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Director of Analytics Engineering, you will play a pivotal role as both a strategic visionary and a hands-on leader in Current’s data transformation efforts. You will spearhead the Analytics Engineering initiatives for Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics, ensuring that our data and analytics framework is not only scalable and reliable but also in perfect alignment with our business objectives.

This high-impact leadership position demands a 'player-coach' approach. You will craft the long-term vision for our data warehouse, oversee the execution of intricate ETL/ELT pipelines, and serve as the key liaison between technical engineering teams, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders. In addition to managing the tech stack, you will focus on mentorship, organizational structuring, and defining career trajectories for an elite team of analytics engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and implement the Analytics Engineering and BI strategy. Own the roadmap and P&L for data warehousing, modeling, and business intelligence across the organization.
  • Act as a hands-on engineer when required, optimizing complex SQL, reviewing designs, dbt models, and troubleshooting high-priority pipeline issues.
  • Lead the design and execution of robust dimensional models, data marts, and aggregation layers in BigQuery utilizing dbt and Airflow.
  • Collaborate with various department leaders and stakeholders to transform business requirements into high-fidelity data models that fuel Looker and downstream analytics.
  • Manage and cultivate a world-class Analytics Engineering team, including an offshore team. Establish clear career paths, conduct performance evaluations, and nurture a culture of technical excellence and data curiosity.
  • Create frameworks for data reconciliation, quality management, and security, ensuring organizational confidence in the accuracy and integrity of our data assets.
  • Oversee Business Intelligence tools and frameworks.
  • Encourage the adoption of data models, customer data platforms, business intelligence tools, and reporting frameworks.
