Role Overview: Developer Experience Engineer
This is Veracross’s first Developer Experience (DevEx) Engineer role. The position sits at the intersection of platform engineering, tooling, automation, and AI-driven development. The DevEx Engineer will guide systems, standards, and integrations that help engineering teams work efficiently and consistently across a multi-language, multi-product codebase. The current stack includes Ruby on Rails, PHP/Laravel, C#, and Java.
This remote position offers broad autonomy and the chance to influence Veracross’s AI-first engineering strategy for 2026. The DevEx Engineer will work closely with engineering leadership, connecting tools, teams, and processes across the company.
What You Will Do
- Contribute to engineering initiatives at both team and individual levels
- Champion developer tooling by leading training sessions, labs, and demonstrations
- Develop and improve tools, workflows, and platform features that enable engineers to deliver quality software
- Manage GitHub platform, pipelines, and repository standards
- Modernize and standardize the development ecosystem, including repository structure, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-assisted workflows
- Use AI agents and copilots for code generation, debugging, test writing, and performance optimization across multiple stacks
- Establish and promote best practices for AI instructional files in repositories
- Provide technical mentorship on tooling, best practices, and AI-first development methods
