The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead our information security initiatives. Annually, DEP generates approximately $3.8 billion in revenue, primarily through customer billing, which funds our operations and a substantial $31 billion Ten-Year Capital Construction Plan.We are currently in search of a dynamic and visionary executive to assume the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). As a vital member of the senior leadership team and reporting directly to the DEP Commissioner, the COO will oversee the operational performance of DEP’s water and wastewater utility functions, managing key operating bureaus and capital construction projects. The COO will lead a dedicated workforce of around 4,800 employees and oversee an annual operating budget of approximately $1.6 billion.The COO will provide strategic leadership and direction to eight divisions within DEP, each managed by a Deputy Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner. These divisions include the Bureau of Water Supply, Bureau of Water & Sewer Operations, Bureau of Wastewater Treatment, Bureau of Engineering Design & Construction, Bureau of Police & Security, Bureau of Sustainability, Bureau of Coastal Resilience, and the Office of Environmental Health & Safety. Additional responsibilities include overseeing fleet operations and emergency management for the Agency. The COO will serve as the primary advisor to the DEP Commissioner regarding operational management, acting as incident commander during extreme conditions and emergency situations.This role also involves integrating coastal resilience planning and infrastructure delivery with DEP’s core water, wastewater, and stormwater operations. The COO will collaborate closely with the DEP Commissioner, Chief of Staff, Chief Financial Officer, and General Counsel to ensure alignment in policy and operations, driving cross-agency initiatives. Furthermore, the COO will spearhead change management efforts and cultivate a culture of innovation within the organization, leveraging data-driven decision-making to enhance performance and operational efficiencies.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is searching for a dedicated Environmental Health & Safety Officer II. This role is essential for promoting a safe and compliant workplace within the Bureau of Customer Services (BCS), specifically for the Staten Island and Brooklyn Inspection Units. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Inspector and the EH&S Office.As an Environmental Health & Safety Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all employees adhere to environmental, health, and safety laws and standards. This includes developing, updating, and implementing procedural guidelines as outlined in the DEP Employee Environmental, Health and Safety handbook and the EH&S Field Safety Guidelines Manual. You will also conduct in-service training programs in relation to EH&S Safety Guidelines.Your role will involve planning and directing the EH&S program, enforcing compliance with agency regulations, and maintaining a comprehensive database of safety violations and complaints. Additionally, you will coordinate vehicle assignments, oversee repairs for the unit, and provide technical support in inspecting, testing, and maintaining water meters and tracking units.As a leader, you may oversee the borough-wide Water Use Inspection program, which includes supervising and evaluating the work of inspectors. You will serve as a knowledgeable resource for field locations, assisting with health and safety assessments, and advising stakeholders on DEP rules regarding water use devices. This position is key to ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to over 836,000 customers while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.

As the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the United States, DEP employs nearly 6,000 dedicated professionals. The department's extensive water supply system consists of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes, spanning a 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.New York City is equipped with approximately 150,000 catch basins, 114,000 hydrants, 90,000 valves, 14 gatehouses, 3 reservoirs, 68 groundwater wells, a 100 million gallon underground storage tank, and 7,000 miles each of both sanitary sewers and water mains. The responsibility for maintaining these vast networks is assigned to the Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations (BWSO) within DEP.Under the executive guidance of the Chief of Construction Engineering in BWSO's Division of Construction Management, the chosen candidate will assume the role of Deputy Chief of Construction Engineering. In this capacity, you will lead a team of approximately 10 to 15 professionals, including Professional Engineers, in managing contracts related to the installation, repair, and restoration of NYC's water mains and sewers. You will coordinate multiple contracts exceeding $25 million for the construction, extension, replacement, and enhancement of the water and sewer systems. Furthermore, you will establish programs and policies to ensure compliance with DEP standards during contract inspections and emergency repairs, collaborating with other agencies, private utilities, and the public.Additionally, you will provide engineering leadership for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of water mains and sewers, overseeing and advising on inspections, maintenance, and investigations of NYC's Water System. You will support the Chief in managing and operating Construction and Distribution Operations, assisting in the achievement of long-term goals.Note: All candidates must be permanent in the Administrative Project Manager civil service title to be considered for an interview.
