Identify trending topics and competitive dynamics, along with coverage opportunities that enhance audience growth and performance. Analyze audience data and signals to strategically influence how we present stories across our platforms. Expand audience insights across the newsroom, ensuring that desk editors are effective, collaborative, and efficient in their planning and analysis processes.

Role Overview

The Deputy Audience Editor, Coverage, shapes and executes strategies to grow and engage the audience for Times journalism. Reporting to the Newsroom Audience Director, this position helps strengthen audience insights and reporting throughout the newsroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of audience editors embedded with news desks, sharing best practices across the newsroom.
  • Advise the Newsroom Audience Director and provide guidance to the masthead on audience matters.
  • Deliver real-time recommendations on coverage and distribution strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for long-term coverage growth and optimization.

Work Location

This position is based in New York City. In-office attendance is required four days per week, with some flexibility for remote work in line with departmental policies.
