RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline. A minimum of 5 years of experience with relational databases. Proficient SQL skills, including T-SQL, stored procedures, views, and functions. Demonstrated expertise in database design, normalization, optimization, and indexing strategies. Solid experience in performance tuning and resolving database issues. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau or similar). Experience using Python for data processing, automation, and ETL workflows. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git). Hands-on experience in database administration, including backups, restores, security, and disaster recovery. Experience with AWS cloud services (RDS, Aurora, S3). Knowledge of financial services environments is a plus; experience in a bank, hedge fund, broker, or trading environment is preferred.

Your Role

We are looking for a talented Database Engineer to enrich our technology team in Bangalore. This is a hands-on position where you will take significant ownership of essential data platform components, emphasizing their design, development, and optimization.

You will collaborate with teams across our London and New York offices, playing a crucial role in evolving and scaling our data platform to directly support trading and investment decision-making on a global scale. This role demands strong technical skills, a keen eye for data quality, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Technology, Quantitative, and Risk teams to create data solutions for reporting and analytics.
  • Design and implement scalable database architectures, including schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures.
  • Develop and maintain Python ETL pipelines for trade, position, and pricing data.
  • Create and support reporting and visualization tools utilizing Tableau.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and high availability across both production and non-production settings.
  • Monitor and enhance database performance through query tuning, indexing, and execution plans.
  • Leverage AWS services (RDS, Aurora, S3) to construct scalable, resilient data platforms.
  • Conduct database maintenance tasks, including backups, recovery, and integrity checks.
  • Implement database security best practices, focusing on user permissions and roles.
  • Support and enhance global data platform operations across various regions.
  • Document database structures, processes, and best practices comprehensively.
