About the job

At Garner, we are on a mission to revolutionize the healthcare economy, ensuring high-quality and affordable care for everyone.

We are fundamentally redefining healthcare delivery in the U. S. by collaborating with employers to redesign healthcare benefits through clear incentives and robust, data-driven insights. Our innovative approach helps employees access higher-quality, lower-cost care, fostering a system that benefits all stakeholders. Improved health outcomes for patients, more effective spending for employers, and enhanced rewards for physicians who deliver exceptional care rather than simply increasing procedure volume are at the core of our vision.

As one of the fastest-growing healthcare technology companies in the nation, Garner is trusted by leading employers and providers in the industry. We are assembling a team of talented, mission-driven professionals eager to create a significant impact in healthcare at scale.

About the Role:

We are looking for a talented Data Scientist to join our Garner Health Intelligence team to enhance our provider data insights. You will collaborate with clinical researchers, data scientists, and data engineers to refine the models and rules we utilize to assess provider performance. Your work will address critical questions, such as identifying which providers yield better surgical outcomes and what data concepts are essential for improving our analyses. The results of your efforts will directly influence our member recommendations and provider-facing data products.

Where You Will Work:

This position is based in our New York City office. Candidates must be willing to work on-site three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with data scientists and clinical experts to define provider performance metrics, apply statistical methodologies, and model provider behavior.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of tools for writing, evaluating, and integrating rules measuring provider behaviors.
  • Design and maintain data-driven algorithms, including AI and machine learning models, to refine our provider recommendation estimates.
  • Construct scalable data pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, and enriching healthcare provider data.
  • Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, research, and operations teams to transform business needs into data-driven solutions.

Our innovative strategies are tailored to meet the needs of both employers and employees, ensuring that healthcare is accessible and effective for all.
