Internship Overview
The Data Science Intern (PhD) will join Airbnb’s Core Data Science team for the Summer 2026 program. This group plays a key role in solving complex business questions using advanced data research, modeling, and empirical analysis. The team focuses on scientific innovation, applying new methods and technologies to improve the Airbnb platform for both hosts and guests.
What You Will Do
As a member of the Trip Intelligence working group, the intern will focus on improving the GSAT model, which measures guest satisfaction using AI and multiple data sources. Core responsibilities include:
- Reviewing academic literature to identify ways to integrate active learning into current models
- Researching new techniques for dataset labeling to improve training and evaluation
- Building an active learning pipeline for the GSAT model and analyzing its results
- Testing methods to improve label quality, including the use of LLM labeling agents
