About the Role
We are seeking our first Data Engineer to take charge of our high-trust data pipelines and analytics models across various facets of our operations. This pivotal role will connect every department, allowing you to build trustworthy integrations, well-structured datasets, and robust quality assurance and monitoring systems. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, marketing, and sales teams to leverage data for impactful decision-making.
This remote position is based in Romania, with access to our Bucharest office if desired. You will closely collaborate with our CTO and the engineering team based in Romania.
As our inaugural analytics engineering hire, you will have the unique opportunity to influence how data is collected, modeled, and utilized across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Manage our Customer Data Platform (CDP), Segment, overseeing sources, destinations, event taxonomy, documentation, and features like Unify and Protocols.
- Lead the data foundations behind product analytics in Mixpanel, ensuring sourcing, taxonomy, and data quality are maintained.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, marketing, and sales to clarify requirements for downstream use cases and establish reliable connections to tools like Customer.io, Salesforce, and Mixpanel.
- Implement data governance, quality assurance, and monitoring procedures to guarantee data reliability and usability across teams.
- Transition manual integrations and fragile workflows, such as those reliant on Zapier, into scalable and maintainable pipelines.
- Design and maintain analytics-ready data models primarily using dbt to support core business entities and downstream reporting and activation needs.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience with event and product analytics tools, demonstrating end-to-end ownership of data processes.
- Familiarity with data modeling, pipelines, and analytics frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for leveraging data to drive business results.
