Your Responsibilities:
As a Data Cloud Platform Engineer, you will oversee the daily operations, stability, and ongoing enhancement of existing database platforms hosted on AWS. Your role will focus on ensuring databases are secure, highly available, efficient, and recoverable, thereby supporting production workloads and mission-critical applications.
Your focus will include operational excellence, troubleshooting, automation, and ongoing optimization while collaborating closely with DevOps, Platform, and application teams.
Manage & Support Existing AWS Databases
Administer and maintain production databases on Amazon RDS, Aurora, and self-managed databases on EC2.
Ensure database integrity, availability, and performance across various environments.
Address database-related incidents, alerts, and service interruptions.
Monitor, Troubleshoot & Enhance Performance
Oversee database health, performance, capacity, and replication utilizing CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and native database tools.
Identify and rectify performance challenges such as slow queries, locking, resource contention, and replication delays.
Conduct capacity planning and proactive tuning.
Security, Backup & Data Protection
Implement database security best practices (access controls, encryption at rest/in transit, credential management).
Administer and validate backup, restore, and disaster recovery protocols.
Ensure compliance with audit and data protection standards.
Automation & Infrastructure as Code
Enhance database provisioning and configuration utilizing Infrastructure as Code methodologies (Terraform, CloudFormation).
