EquipmentShare is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join its headquarters team in Columbia, MO. This position is fully remote and centers on designing, integrating, and standardizing control systems for the Advanced Solutions fleet. The fleet covers a broad range of equipment, including power generation, energy storage, load banks, electrical distribution, climate control, and compressed air systems.
This engineer will help ensure reliable and consistent performance across different equipment types. The work involves improving how control platforms interact, standardizing communication protocols, and making sure that systems from various manufacturers work together seamlessly. The role supports both new equipment development and optimization of current assets, with a strong focus on controls integration and system-level performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Controls Integration and Standardization
- Integrate control systems for generators, battery energy storage systems (BESS), load banks, electrical distribution, climate control, and compressed air equipment.
- Support the development of standardized control strategies across different OEM platforms.
- Maintain consistent operational behavior, logic structure, and interface standards for various equipment types.
- Develop and update detailed sequences of operations for complex, multi-asset systems.
- Support system-level functions, including load coordination, staging, and responsive actions.
- Controls Design and Implementation
- Develop and assist with PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and control architectures.
- Configure communication protocols between devices using industrial standards such as Modbus, CAN, and Ethernet-based systems.
- Support upgrades and enhancements to control systems across the fleet.
- Assist in defining control requirements for new equipment and applications.
