QualificationsAt least two (2) years of experience with multiple CAD platforms, demonstrating proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, Revit, and/or InRoads. Strong ability to read, interpret, and understand construction plans and specifications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Position Overview

We are currently in search of a talented Construction Survey CAD Technician to join our team. This full-time, in-office role can be based in either Rochester or Buffalo, NY. In this capacity, you will support intricate civil, highway, and building projects by preparing calculations for field crews, processing field data, generating as-built and volume reports, and creating high-quality 3D models for Automated Machine Guidance systems. You will utilize cutting-edge stringless/stakeless construction technologies, including asphalt and concrete paving, while collaborating with clients across the nation and design engineers to ensure timely project completion. All tasks will be performed under the guidance of Professional Licensed Surveyors.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role primarily involves in-office work with occasional field assignments.
  • Provide field crews with stakeout calculations for civil, heavy highway, and building projects.
  • Prepare as-built drawings and related reports.
  • Create 3D data, surfaces, alignments, and linework for paving, slipform, and earthmoving automated machine guidance systems (e.g., Trimble, Topcon, Leica).
  • Ensure data quality and integrity in the office; perform accurate calculations independently to complete surveys.
  • Extract and process data from terrestrial and mobile laser scans.
  • Stay updated on advancements in technology, equipment, and software.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Conduct site localizations as needed and perform other construction survey-related duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
