Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Account Executives to discover, qualify, and secure new opportunities with Commercial customers. Conduct technical assessments, create solution architectures, and deliver demonstrations and proofs of concept to expedite client decision-making. Manage intricate multi-stakeholder negotiations, aligning technical solutions with business goals. Offer structured feedback to guide product development and go-to-market strategies. Develop scalable resources for enablement, including demo setups and solution frameworks for the Solutions Engineering team. What We Are Looking For4+ years of experience in a customer-facing Solutions Engineer/Solutions Architect role within the networking or security software sector. Demonstrated track record of co-managing the sales pipeline and influencing sales outcomes. Profound knowledge of zero-trust networking, secure connectivity, and Identity and Access Management (IAM) integrations (SSO, SAML, OIDC). Hands-on experience in architectural design with AWS, GCP, and/or Azure. Strong foundational knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls) and troubleshooting capabilities. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate technical features into tangible business benefits. A proven ability to thrive in dynamic, high-growth, or startup environments.

Job Description

Tailscale is on the lookout for a skilled Commercial Solutions Engineer to collaborate with our Sales team in pursuing new business opportunities with Commercial clients. In this role, you will share responsibility for a portfolio of clients alongside Account Executives, lead technical explorations and solution designs, and serve as a trusted advisor for our customers. This position merges extensive networking and security knowledge with a strong sales background to secure competitive contracts, enhance enablement, and influence product development.
