Ideal Candidate Profile:Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field. Proficient in programming, especially in Python. Familiarity with deep learning frameworks, particularly PyTorch. Comfortable operating within a Linux environment and utilizing tools such as Git, Docker, or Jupyter. Understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including linear algebra, probability, optimization, and deep learning architectures. Curiosity or experience in one or more of the following areas:Computer Vision / Scene UnderstandingVision-Language(-Action) Models (VLMs, VLAs)Reinforcement Learning or Policy LearningAutonomous Driving Simulation / CARLAFoundation Models and Multimodal Representation Learning

Huawei Canada is excited to announce a 12 to 16-month Co-op opportunity for aspiring Researchers in the field of AI focused on Autonomous Driving and Multimodal Learning.

About the Team:

The Noah’s Ark Lab, established in 2012, has become a leading research institution recognized for its significant contributions to both academia and industry. We are committed to impactful, long-term projects that aim to integrate cutting-edge research into our products and services, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Reinforcement Learning (RL), Natural Language Processing (NLP), computer vision, AI theory, and Autonomous Driving.

About the Role:

  • Explore complex challenges in autonomous driving and multimodal reasoning, such as scene understanding, decision making, spatial reasoning, and causal learning.
  • Develop and implement advanced algorithms leveraging deep learning and transformer-based architectures for vision-language-action models.
  • Prototype and assess innovative concepts using internal simulation tools like CARLA and Navsim, as well as large-scale driving datasets such as Waymo.
  • Examine model behaviors, create visualizations, and contribute to benchmarking processes.
  • Work collaboratively with senior researchers to support ongoing research initiatives and academic publications.
  • Engage in regular technical discussions, contribute to internal presentations, and ensure the maintenance of clean, reproducible codebases.
