Role overview
Contributors will design and document original computational chemistry problems that reflect real-world research workflows. Tasks include:
- Creating problems that require Python programming to solve, using libraries such as numpy, scipy, and specialized chemical libraries
- Ensuring problems are computationally intensive and not solvable manually within a short timeframe
- Developing scenarios that demand advanced reasoning in physical chemistry, quantum chemistry, and molecular modeling
- Basing problems on authentic research challenges or practical applications in chemistry
- Verifying solutions in Python using standard computational chemistry methods
- Clearly documenting each problem statement and providing accurate, verified answers
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation (skills in MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or similar languages are also considered)
- At least 2 years of experience in applied research or teaching
- Background in numerical methods for chemistry
- Familiarity with computational chemistry concepts and methodologies
- Strong written English skills (C1 level or higher)
Project structure
The process includes applying, passing qualifications, joining a project, completing assigned tasks, and receiving compensation. Project commitment is estimated at 10–20 hours per week during active periods, though actual workload may vary depending on project needs.
Compensation
Contributors may earn up to $76 per hour, based on expertise and pace. Compensation varies by project, reflecting the scope, complexity, and required skills. Other projects may have different pay rates depending on their specific requirements.
