Job Title: Certified Pharmacy Technician

Location: Richmond, VA 23233

Duration: 12 months+

Working Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Role Overview: As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will evaluate and authorize prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received via telephone and/or facsimile, adhering to client clinical criteria. You will determine medication appropriateness and communicate decisions to physicians, their office staff, medical management teams, and pharmacists.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate prior authorization requests and communicate selected criteria, pharmacy benefit coverage, and formulary alternatives to relevant parties.
  • Research, resolve, and document outcomes of prior authorization requests within the pharmacy system.
  • Escalate requests to a pharmacist when extensive clinical review or denial is necessary.
  • Address physician or client inquiries and grievances, providing verbal or written results to clients, prescribers, providers, and management.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of 6 months of experience in a retail, hospital, or facility pharmacy setting. Proficiency in computerized pharmacy systems and software applications is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to follow clinical criteria and instructions and have experience with Windows-based software applications. A High School Diploma or equivalent and a Pharmacy Technician Certification or License are mandatory.
