Qualifications and Skills:3-5 years of experience in broadcast engineering or live operations, particularly in live sports or studio settings. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays throughout the Major League Baseball season, as well as during Post-Season and Spring Training. Willingness to travel for Remote Events or Ballpark Video Technician assignments.

The Replay Broadcast Engineer acts as the technical lead within the MLB Replay Operations Center (ROC), taking charge during live game broadcasts to ensure the highest quality of video and audio replay systems utilized by Major League Baseball. This is a full-time position located at our New York Operations Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Engineer in Charge (EIC) during assigned game windows, providing expertise and resolving technical issues as they arise.
  • Oversee pre-game checks of venue equipment, video servers, and communication lines to ensure everything is functioning properly before the first pitch.
  • Quickly diagnose and address critical issues with video ingestion, delivery systems, on-field communications, and data synchronization during live action.
  • Act as a central communication point among the ROC, remote Ballpark Video Technicians, and League Officials to keep everyone informed of any technical challenges impacting gameplay.
  • Manage the support of various On-Field Technologies, including ABS Video, Pace of Game Clocks, and Umpire Communication hardware.
  • Lead technical deployments for significant events such as the Field of Dreams game and International Series.
  • Handle the complete lifecycle of remote replay systems, from logistics planning and configuration to testing and implementation.
  • Collaborate with venue infrastructure teams and mobile units for seamless integration of replay resources.
  • Provide technical support during Jewel games and other high-profile events.
  • Guide and mentor Junior Engineers and seasonal staff, ensuring adherence to operational standards.
  • Work alongside the Director of Replay Technology to innovate and implement new adjudication technologies like automated ball/strike systems and high-frame-rate cameras.
  • Participate in research and development efforts to integrate new technological solutions into the MLB and Replay Technology frameworks.
  • Contribute to the documentation of signal flows, IP addresses, and incident reports to aid in post-analysis and future engineering projects.
