Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC) at The Shop is an essential member of a pioneering, multidisciplinary team operating in a barbershop environment. This role focuses on delivering proactive, culturally sensitive clinical support, counseling, and case management services specifically tailored for older Black/African American men facing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and social isolation. Collaborating closely with Barber Health Advocates and a Certified Peer SUD Specialist, the BHC will provide immediate triage, responsive therapy, and lead therapeutic groups within this trusted community space. This position plays a pivotal role in connecting clients to GLIDE’s extensive continuum of care, emphasizing overdose prevention, Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) navigation, and holistic recovery support. Flexibility in scheduling is required to accommodate community needs, including evening and weekend hours.

This position is grant-funded and contingent upon continued financial support from the agency.
