Role Overview

As a Battery Test Engineer, you will engage in hands-on work with battery cells, packs, and complete robotic battery systems. Your role will be critical in generating high-quality data that informs battery algorithms, hardware design, and comprehensive energy management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute battery testing campaigns for cells and packs used in robotic applications.
  • Create test protocols focused on performance, longevity, safety, and stress testing in line with robotics-specific load profiles.
  • Utilize battery cyclers, environmental chambers, and thermal testing apparatus.
  • Develop test profiles that simulate real-world usage scenarios, including high transients, intermittent loads, and regenerative braking events.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze test data, identifying anomalies and potential failure modes.
  • Work collaboratively with algorithm, hardware, firmware, and robotics teams to support model development and validation processes.
  • Assist in Battery Management System (BMS) validation, ensuring State of Charge (SoC) and State of Health (SoH) accuracy, fault detection, and protection thresholds.
  • Maintain testing equipment, fixtures, wiring, and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Thoroughly document test results, methodologies, and actionable recommendations.
  • Support root-cause analysis for field issues and insights derived from fleet data.
