Role Overview
As a Battery Test Engineer, you will engage in hands-on work with battery cells, packs, and complete robotic battery systems. Your role will be critical in generating high-quality data that informs battery algorithms, hardware design, and comprehensive energy management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute battery testing campaigns for cells and packs used in robotic applications.
- Create test protocols focused on performance, longevity, safety, and stress testing in line with robotics-specific load profiles.
- Utilize battery cyclers, environmental chambers, and thermal testing apparatus.
- Develop test profiles that simulate real-world usage scenarios, including high transients, intermittent loads, and regenerative braking events.
- Collect, validate, and analyze test data, identifying anomalies and potential failure modes.
- Work collaboratively with algorithm, hardware, firmware, and robotics teams to support model development and validation processes.
- Assist in Battery Management System (BMS) validation, ensuring State of Charge (SoC) and State of Health (SoH) accuracy, fault detection, and protection thresholds.
- Maintain testing equipment, fixtures, wiring, and adhere to safety protocols.
- Thoroughly document test results, methodologies, and actionable recommendations.
- Support root-cause analysis for field issues and insights derived from fleet data.
